On Wednesday 2nd September a hardy bunch of club members left their beds early to make their way down the coast to view the RSPB’s Snettisham ‘Spectacular’. A grand time was had by all but unfortunately the birds had not received the memo about flying in a 'Spectacular' fashion above the expectant audience - maybe next time. They did however perform some rather lovely murmurations though - we naively thought these were practice runs for the big event but it was not to be.
Later we had more success from one of the nearby lagoon hides where there were knots aplenty, many egrets and possibly twenty spoonbills.
As we began our walk back, the RSPB warden excitedly pointed out the osprey which seemed to have put the knots to flight again - rather too distant for our lenses but good to see anyway. And then it was off for a much needed late breakfast.
