On the 23rd May a group of twelve NNPS members thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Sainsbury Centre and the wider UEA campus in Norwich. Hanne and Malcolm along with Desmond King ARPS from Buxton Camera Club organised the day and additionally managed to get the weather just right too. After meeting inside the Norman Foster building - the free car park being immediately outside - we toured the campus guided by Des who obtained privileged access to many areas not normally open to the public. There were countless opportunities to photograph the Brutalist style architecture along with the many art installations throughout the buildings and Sculpture Park by such as Sir Anthony Gormley and Henry Moore. On completing our gentle stroll around the buildings and grounds beneath the hot sun we re-entered the indoor areas - mercifully air conditioned - where the variety of artworks on display more than matched the description of being a leading world-class museum and gallery. We concluded our day with an excellent meal at one large table set aside for us within the Modern Life Café. This venue is probably one the club will re-visit at a later date as the photographic opportunities are considerable.
